In his letter about breeding Arabian horses to the President of the Royal Agricultural Society Mohamed Tahir Pasha, The Hungarian expert, Tibor de Baddo Santer stressed that Arabian horses are hurt by too much food because the frequent eating leads them in a few generations to lose their advantages and become useless as it happens with English horses.

He explained: “It is necessary to take care of   foals, especially in the first period when they are with their mothers as well as after weaning her for half a year and must be cared for with sufficient nutrition to grow and grow and that if we do not take this opportunity during the first 6 months, it is not possible in the coming years to make up for the past, even if it has been provided with a lot of food.

He continued: “I will provide the association with an accurate schedule of food to be presented to all newborns, mothers and stallion, pointing out that the types of industrial fodder such as chalk and gain cannot be used successfully unless the agricultural chemical analysis proves that alfalfa and dress are free of these important elements.

He pointed out that grinding barley and oats is considered harmful because it is not healthier than to grind and chew by teeth to then make it easier to digest in the stomach, stressing that the surf crunchy food should be given only to the elderly or to the late growth foals in a limited extent and in exceptional cases only.

The Hungarian expert said: “Every horse, pony or mare, should be tied during having the dry food so that the quick eaters do not eat the foes of slowly ones, explaining that the type that contains “vitamin A” in large quantity is carrots and therefore should be chopped and added to the dry food to be wet, while barley and oats must be mixed with hay to increase the benefit in the dry food.

He pointed out that there is an old Hungarian proverb saying: “It is not possible to raise horses without pasture”, as well as the case among The Arab tribes they fight each other for the pasture, and I see that the issue of pasture in the farm of Kafr Farouk is possible to be solved little by little, even if at present it is on a narrow path.

He continued: “The success of breeding horses in the private breeding farm is due to the pasture”.

He stressed that the horse must be grazed free all day in the pastures and not return to the stable unless the food is dry, as well as the place of running the horse can be planted in the middle and corners and make it pasture, and as I knew from the President that the land adjacent to the farm will be bought and included to it, there will be the most suitable and better chance to establish the pasture.
