Khedive Ismail established the Royal Vehicles Department, and what remains of it is now a small part that has been turned into the Royal Vehicles Museum in Bulaq.\u00a0The headquarters of Khedive Ismail’s stables for vehicles is the location of the current headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n
The Khedive was interested in using the best horses and the finest chariots during some special official ceremonies and his movements;\u00a0to reflect his greatness.<\/p>\n
The Italian book “The Genealogy of the Horse” mentions that Khedive Ismail re-imported one hundred and forty-two stallions, mare and foal to Egypt after nine years, from\u00a0Abbas Pasha’s horses, but he weakened them when he began to cross them with a chariot horse imported from England.<\/p>\n
Egypt was racing with the countries of the world to own the best horses, and the most luxurious chariots of all shapes and sizes, and was skilled in decorating these chariots with luxurious crews, as there was interest in the clothes of the knights who service their official boats.<\/p>\n
Egypt fought this field like other countries, especially during the reign of Khedive Ismail, where the Khedive\u2019s stables were a great exhibition of authentic horses, luxurious carts, and luxurious clothes of various colors and shapes.<\/p>\n
These stables occupied several places, including those reserved for the Khedive’s knees in official ceremonies.<\/p>\n
He added to it modern types that did not exist before, until the royal chariots in Egypt became comparable to those in the largest countries, and generous horses and clothes of various shapes were conjured, and some old saddles, clothes and tools that were used during the reign of Khedive Ismail and the covenants that followed were preserved. ;\u00a0What made the management of the stables a great museum, as attested by the great foreign visitors.<\/p>\n
There are grand honours, which are reserved for the king and his entourage in major official ceremonies at the opening of Parliament, and some of them are for ministers plenipotentiary when presenting their credentials, and some of them were used in wedding ceremonies in previous eras, and there are other luxury chariots for foreign kings to ride when they visit Egypt, and the queen\u2019s chariots and its entourage, and vehicles for regular riding and picnics in the park, and many others for teaching and training horses daily.<\/p>\n
Each type of vehicle has horses, kits and special clothes.\u00a0Horses are imported from abroad;\u00a0Due to the scarcity of this type of car in Egypt, the administration distributes it to the vehicles according to what suits each of them, as this requires great care and great effort that many people do not feel.<\/p>\n
Man admires the chariots and horses and the beautiful outfits that they carry, which dazzles him with their splendor, and he does not know how all this was prepared or how these horses became an easy-to-manage trust, despite the appearances, surprises and strange scenes that surround them while they are walking in official processions.<\/p>\n
Codification of horses, their qualities and diseases during the reign of Khedive Ismail<\/strong><\/p>\n Khedive Ismail was interested in codifying horses, their characteristics, diseases and methods of treatment, the same thing that King Al-Nasir bin Qalawun did, when the book \u201cKamel Al-Sina\u2019atin\u201d by Ibn Al-Bitar was published during his reign.\u00a0As for Khedive Ismail, during his reign, he witnessed the book “The Veterinarian’s Guide in the Appearance of Horses”, which was printed in the full printing press under the orders of Khedive Ismail.<\/p>\n The introduction to the book reflects the high taste and interest in horses, and it says:<\/p>\n Praise be to the One who created the creatures for the highest previous example, created beings in the best order, beautified them with the most delightful appearance and stature, deposited in the animal benefits what an eloquent and skillful person could not count, and made the outward a title on the inner as evidenced by conditions and evidence, and blessings and peace be upon our Master Muhammad, the best of servants. The Hashemite Prophet is the best of those who bought horses and drove them to please God with heroes who triumphed over them in all places, and over his family and his righteous companions who knew the mysteries of mysteries, and inferred their innermost manifestations expressing what consciences were built upon, their working successors and their just workers, especially the dear Khedive of Egypt. And the summary of its freshness is the chest of the venerable, the guardian of blessings, the high-spirited, Ismael;\u00a0He is still continually exerting his power in spreading civility among people, renewing schools after extinction, placing every innovator on the most solid foundation, taking care of all those who have shaded the children of arts and knowledge and the welfare of his flock thankful for his hands, celebrating the upbringing of his soldiers that suppress his enemies, expanding the scope of the farmer and directing judgments in Evening and morning, may his master preserve him and make him happy for the people of his time, Amen (and after).<\/p>\n Since the benefits of horses are undeniable, and the general benefit of horses is too famous to be mentioned, and there was nothing wrong with knowing the system of the composition of their organs, ligaments, and their apparent appearance indicative of their beauty, and finding out what their species are, their arrival, testing, distinguishing true from their ailments, how to buy them, the method of treatment and their medicine. \u201cAl-Maher is one of the noble military officers. It includes all these important materials with great benefits. Its translation, Arabization and revision as possible and its refinement on his behalf have been transmitted to those who are familiar with the Arabic, Turkish and French languages;\u00a0The translator, Muhammed Effendi Laz, excelled, and he did so in accordance with the order of His Excellency the Director of General Egyptian Schools, Prince Al Khater, Head of the Interior Ministry, issued to Colonel \u201cMarshir\u201d Head of the Military School, who won the first place in the field of military arts.<\/p>\n This glorified translator received the aforementioned book The Appearance of Horses from the commanding officer of Qumandan al-Sawari Polar, who was upon him in the instructions of the commanding cavalry.
