On the authority of Abu Hurairah – may God be pleased with him – that he said: The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “Whoever donates a horse for the sake of God, out of faith in God and in belief in His promise, then its satiation, watering, dung and urine will be in his balance on the Day of Resurrection.” Narrated by Al-Bukhari in his Sahih, Ibn Hibban in his Sahih, and Al-Albani in “Sahih Al-Nasa’i” and “Sahih Al-Jami’.”
And in a narration by Shuaib Al-Arna’oot in “Tareekh Sahih Ibn Hibban”: “He who donates a horse in the way of God out of faith in God and in fulfillment of His promises, his fulfillment, watering and dung will be good deeds in his balance on the Day of Resurrection.”
The hadith clarifies the greatness of the reward of the one who donates a horse for jihad in the cause of God, for every food he feeds him, and every water he gives him, and even his dung and urine, will be on the scale of his good deeds until the Day of Resurrection.
It was said that this hadith indicates the permissibility of donating horses to defend Muslims.
And his saying “and his heir” clarifies the great reward of raising horses, to the extent that the slandered person uses his wording for the need for that, and it is a reward that is specific to horses rather than other animals.
