The Messenger of God – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – ran his horse Adham on Muslim horses in al-Muhassab in Makkah, so his horse came earlier, so the Messenger of God – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – got down on his knees, until when he passed by, he said to him: “Lebah” (the name of the horse).
The Prophet’s bet on his horse
In the Musnad of Imam Ahmad from the hadith of Abdullah bin Omar also that the Prophet – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – preceded among horses, and in his pronunciation “He preceded between horses and gave precedence.”
And in the Musnad also from the hadith of Anas that it was said to him: Did you bet during the time of the Messenger of God – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – or: Was the Messenger of God – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – betting? He said: Yes, by God, the Messenger of God – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – made a bet on his horse called a rosary.
And on the authority of Abu Hurairah – may God be pleased with him – on the authority of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him: “He who enters a horse between two horses, meaning he does not believe that he will race, is not gambling.
At least 10 horses were assembled before the race was held, and a committee was appointed to find out the condition and age of the participating horses and to control the races in those days.
The first historic day of racing in the era of Islam
The Arabs loved horses and were interested in their breeding, and racing was the most actual sport, so the companion of the Messenger of God and the first of the Rightly Guided Caliphs, our master Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, won the honors on the first historic day of the race in the era of Islam for a distance of more than 6 miles from Al-Hafia to the Farewell Pavilion.
Horse racing gained popularity throughout the Islamic world, with caliphs and sultans spurring to build those magnificent horses of the past. In the modern era, horse racing has found great interest in the Arab countries, where generations have inherited the favorite sport of our ancestors. Race tracks and horse sheltering areas have been wonderfully constructed, and horse racing has been called the sport of kings.
